THE SMOKER
By Robert Kaplan

Hooked on pleasure pain, insomnia
No appetite, sore throat
Wheezy lungs, stomach just ain't right

Coughing music plays the day
Some wierd disease not to far away
No more taste in food, I had to smoke 'cause I'm a smoker

Smoking is a synbol
That helps to mend the habit
Symbols point the way to what they mean

Being more grown up
To be less shy
Something to do with one's hands
Feelings of kinship by

Making friends out of strangers
Affection, kissing, companionship
Status, health, joyfullness

Deep sleep, quiet breathing
Good appitite, energy
Appearance right, feeling love about

That's why, each day
I put a fire in my mouth
And now, why I put it out

Smoke air, I keep on smoking air
Pause for rest, withdrawal is a sincerity test

I love my lungs, I love my lungs
I love my lungs, I love my lungs
